Jorge Ian Guajardo

Hello, and welcome to my online portfolio.

My name is Jorge Ian Guajardo, and I am a journalist and sports reporter.

I am a bilingual sports journalist and researcher who thrives on storytelling and works to stay engaged in my community. My career has moved through professional broadcasting, academic research and military service, sharpening my ability to lead, adapt and connect with diverse audiences.

I have produced live sports coverage and podcasts for 600 ESPN El Paso and managed a newsroom team at the University of Texas at El Paso. These experiences helped me build a reporting foundation rooted in accuracy, narrative depth and cultural relevance.

I am pursuing a master’s degree in sports journalism at Arizona State University. I serve as a graduate research assistant with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, focusing on healthcare access affecting Latino and Native communities in the Southwest. This work reflects my commitment to using journalism as a tool for equity and representation, bringing both English and Spanish voices into essential conversations.

My background in sports media, research and leadership — strengthened by my service in the U.S. Navy — allows me to approach storytelling with discipline, empathy and a deep understanding of how to reach and serve underrepresented communities.
